One of 6 short films by Slurpy Studios for RIW (Remember It’s Waterproof).
Each film was created to explore a common mistake in the waterproofing process, and to show architects and builders the potential consequences of not doing it properly. They are a funny and tongue in cheek way of talking about quite a serious and technical problem.
They are designed in a 1950’s ‘UPA’ style, with strong character profiles, no straight lines and a carefully designed colour palette. The animation is fun and cartoony, with ‘rubber-hose’ limbs.
First-time directors James Allen and Mike Skrgatic at East Londons Time Based Arts combine a full compliment of their studios VFX, animation, and illustration talents into this spectacular 90-second opus for Honda thru Wieden+Kennedy.

Apple launches their iPhone 7 and new watch with a short 107 second summary of their conference in this video. It’s as simplistic as you’d expect from an Apple video, but always done very well. You can find out more about it’s cleverness here.
2viente recreate Disney with classic geometric shapes. Each classic film is recognisable through the animation of simple geography, and matches with a modern colour palette and nice transitions add a unusual twist to a Disney channel advert.
This stylish promo for Dior’s “Eau Savage” takes us back to the early 2000s, when flat-shaded CG and negative space transitions were all the rage.

So this is how they make Swiss/Italian watches! A really nice animation playing on scale from Parallel. Also a great piece of sound design from Alexandre Poirier which really adds to the whole atmosphere.
Often seen as part bumpers during football matches these William Hill adverts combine live action and lots of different styles but it’s the comic strip overlays that appeal most to me.
Not the newest of films here, but the designers at Parallel managed to combine actual products with collage and simple figures within a cleverly lit scene to create a unique short commercial.
Commercial for New York appartment blocks by Art & Graft. This strong graphic look with bright lens flares, realistic shadows and reflections and a painterly finish was created by Art and Graft and has a rare quality of equally impressive animation. Mixtape Club create an advert for American Express involving those little airfix kit style sets, popping each one up in to a nice conclusion for the scenes.
Artistic brush strokes combined with precision lines give an impressive creative feel to this car advert. Made by Block and Tackle with a good “how it was done” interview on Motionographer.
From ‘Not to Scale’ and ‘Mirari’, these really nice short animations were commissioned by Ogilvy London showcasing Unilever’s messaging around sustainability.
Different, almost unnoticeable take on the pop-up book idea. Nice tracking of a plane with complex CGI makes for a nice mix.
Beautfully designed film, with a illustrative feel but created in CGI for Nature’s Path by Burcu & Geoffrey.
Gentleman Scholar recreate the gracefulness of a large humpback whale in the freedom of a forest to promote Whale and Dolphin conservation. A technical video of some before and afters of the realistic CGI process can also be found on their site.
Passion Pictures works with the popular children’s book illustrator Oliver Jeffers to create animated advert’s for Kinder Bueno. A charming style with naive text recreate the excellence found in his stories.
Paypal’s TV advert tracks doodles around the presenter to animate ideas in a fun sketchy way. A white, clean room behind gives it an airy, light feel.
William Russell directs animated spots for ANA, using lines very cleverly and beautifully constructed. Another lines and dots style film like “Designed by Apple”, it uses flight paths as a concept to make the connections.
Using flat colours to create a mix of 3D and 2D with transitions separating it out from a crowded genre of similar films. Screen print texture added to give it that old racing poster feel too.
Nicely shot and conceived advert for the UK Goverment’s promotion of the latest broadband services coming our way.

French TV idents, spinning around the logo to reveal various happenings. A variety of creative beautifully modelled 3D environments by Roof Studio.
Parallax used to the highest degree to create these idents by Brothers & Sisters. Although looking like slowed down footage, stills were placed within a 3D environment, composited with animated details and moved with a virtual camera.
Animated sequence which is a very stripped down and almost abstract infographic, with echoes of Apple’s “Designed in California” animation. Other versions available to view on Vimeo.
Hand drawn cartoon elements tracked on to nicely shot footage of Paris, gives a friendly upbeat feeling to an urban landscape.

We’re just about to embark on a project involving use of fuzzy felt and came upon this directed by Tony Mines for Tandem Films in Homage to the Steve McQueen motorbike sequence from ‘The Great Escape’.
A lesson in transitions here, using 2D motion graphics composited and interacting with 3D elements for a trailer for an arcade game app.
Really well captured insight into the Greenwich community and the return of the Cutty Sark after it has been restored after the fire which almost destroyed it some years ago. Apparently the work is from Armoury London and the compositing was done by Rogue Collie in Wales.
