Short animated film by Philip Watts combining ’tilt shift’ cityscapes, traditional animation and some great little visual effects. Beware of the little green monster.
A great hybrid of traditional animation and live action from ‘Les Telecreateurs design’. One can only imagine that this was quite a complex piece of work to composite as successfully as this.
John Allison and Chris Bovill, Creative Directors of 4creative where the drivers behind the 45 hours of footage, shot over two days using 44 cameras and a cast and crew of almost 300 people, including race and stunt horses and jockeys to achieve the ambitious final film.
Really well captured insight into the Greenwich community and the return of the Cutty Sark after it has been restored after the fire which almost destroyed it some years ago. Apparently the work is from Armoury London and the compositing was done by Rogue Collie in Wales.

Prologue piece together a clever device shooting close-ups with a muted palette and short depth of field. The series is a modern take on Sherlock Holmes by CBS starring Lucy Liu as Watson. I know, right.
As far as i can make out most of this promo was achieved in camera with very little apparent past-production.
Clever use of super-imposing and tracking for this advert. Using boxes to separate action and have elements interact between them in a rustic setting.

The new 2012 trailer for Wimbledon from Red Bee Media. Still trying to work out whether this this could have been achieved without painstaking attention to detail.

A lot of work has gone into this intel commercial Smith & Foulkes (nexus productions).
I guess these guys got in before airmiles added their fees & taxes. Great little sequence which must have been months in the planning.
What appears to be a great piece of motion capture was actually created using stills which were then applied to 3D models of human heads to create the idea of cameras moving around frozen action.
A study in high speed photography or clever morphing of stills using twixter plugin for After Effects.
This is just a great, heart warming advert combining kids drawings by means of camera tracking and clever compositing.
Just lovely simple advert with actor, one camera and the sunlight. Like the brashness of the jump cuts.

The Snows carry around their portfolio of battlefields together with some clever camera tracking and CGI work and a bit of ad libing and some hand waving.
An interesting technique using animated gif’s within a larger image to give the effect of realism. I guess its all about getting the loop to work. Check out the site ‘From me to You‘.

Titles for an old BBC Knowledge slot on Non-English language cinema. Shot in and around London and projections were composited later.
Sky Sports idents mixing live action footage with CGI smashing glass. The figures were rotoscoped and added into 3D environments.

A title we shot some years ago in my house in Wandsworth doubling as a US government office in the 30’s. We used a boroscope lens which was about a foot in length attached to a DigiBeta camera to get in to see that dust.
